Traffic Management Plans

What is a Traffic Management Plan (TMP)?

A Traffic Management Plan (TMP), or Worksite Traffic Management Plan (WTMP), is usually a collection of Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) or Traffic Control Plans (TCP), risk and hazard assessments, traffic volume analysis, signage and equipment schedules, and at times stakeholder notifications. It's aimed at demonstrating how a construction site, event or road maintenance activity can be carried out without a detrimental effect on existing road operations. A Traffic Management Plan must comply with the Code of Practice - Worksite Traffic Management, Australian Standard 1742.3 and its state supplements, and Austroads Guidelines, and can only be drawn by an accredited TMP drawer. All of RedSquare Traffic's engineers are accredited TMP drawers.

Traffic Control Plans (TCP) & Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS)

A Traffic Guidance Scheme or Traffic Control Plan is required for any activity that impacts the regular flow of traffic, pedestrians and cyclists on roads and footpaths. These drawings indicate the placement of traffic control signage, clearances to working areas, temporary barrier treatments, merge and diverge lengths, and any detours. RedSquare Traffic's accredited plan drawers produce drawings compliant with these standards, either as part of a broader TMP or WTMP, or as a stand-alone product.

Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMP)

A Construction Traffic Management Plan is required when operating a construction site that may generate traffic impacting road safety, the regular flow of traffic, surrounding parking facilities, or pedestrian and cyclist movements. Our traffic engineers sit down with the client to understand how the construction site will affect the road network, then develop a list of engineering solutions to mitigate these issues and produce a comprehensive CTMP to assist with gaining approval from road authorities.
